Friluftsliv is speaking to me today! I’ve spent the past 25 days in Edinburgh so my “outdoors” has been in the city. It’s a wonderful city. There are lots of green spaces in the Edinburgh but as I travel home (to another city) I am craving “countryside outdoors”. Tomorrow my hiking boots will be taking me to the moors!
Ooooh - I am so jealous. You should share some photos soon. Hiking in the moors too. My hubby and I would like to return to the UK soon and head north. How was the weather?
Those are excellent principles to live by, and thanks for explaining them. I'm fascinated by each. They all seem like effective ways to encourage different aspects of mindfulness into our lives.
Jenn, another great post! I love the way you immerse yourself in the culture of the places you visit! And your opening photo of the fall leaves is spectacular!
I hadn't heard the term "Friluftsliv," but I love the idea of the time outdoors not being about accomplishing something, but about just being there. It's easy to get caught up thinking that everything needs to be training for a bigger event or that I need to do a certain number of miles to make an outing "worthwhile." But just being outside is worthwhile. Thanks for sharing these ideas!
Yes, I found that very useful for me too. All too often, I set a goal when I am hiking or running. I am striving to just enjoy the moment and soak in the smells of the outdoors. Thank you for commenting - I appreciate it.

Yes, definitely. I am working on using them daily.

Thank you - your positive remarks mean a lot to me. I shot that photo at my favorite local park.
All excellent concepts! 😉
I was thinking of you as I wrote this.
I absolutely love this! These are amazing concepts to keep in mind every day. And, btw, that photo of the amber sunrise over the lake is spectacular!
Thank you Erik for your positive remarks - means a lot to me. I love sunrises.

I like the Friluftsliv concept of the love for being outdoors. That's a great morning meditation as well by to the birds, Jenn.
Every time I write a little poem, I think of you..........thank you very much for your warm comments.
Loved everything about this one Jenn. Thank you. Practical examples only made it that much more powerful
