Thank you Sheryl for your positive comment......and for subscribing to Outdoors with Jenn. Our canoes are Hornbeck canoes which are made by hand in a little town in New York State. Mine canoe weighs about 15 pounds and my husband's canoe weighs about 25 pounds. I love my canoe....so easy to move, lift and transport. And very stable on the water. Definitely worth waiting for - I love paddling on Skaneateles Lake but it is such a big lake with lots of boat traffic - better to do paddle after Labor Day. I am slowly working on my poetry - short verses are easier for me.
Cool adventure and awesome photos! This brought back memories of canoeing across an open expanse on Lake Saganaga in the Boundary Waters forty-six years ago in windy/wavy conditions only to have the lake lay down after the front had passed.
Wow that's incredible! I would like to find out more about your canoes!
I loved the flowing blue water with the single fossil in it.

Oh, thank you for that info! I will check them out! I want a canoe again so badly, but had not found anything light enough.
My husband purchased another Hornbeck recently - he found it on Facebook marketplace.
Amazing! What a truly fascinating place to discover!!
Thanks for sharing this! My dad grew up right on Skaneateles Lake, and it's a beautiful place to visit for sure.
That is so neat that you have roots on Skaneateles. I am very lucky to live close to several of the Finger Lakes. Thank you Jason for your comments.
This post is full of gems. Beautiful photos and post Jenn!
Looks like a really beaituful area, Jenn and so many great images. I can only imagine what it is like to see from a canoe. I like this haiku as well:
"Wind slowing my pace —
yet each stroke stirs the stillness,
change begins this way."
Thank you Sam. Definitely made me think about about my own mortality and where we will be in 500 million years.
What a great adventure! I also enjoyed the way you interspersed your poetry between the lines. Well done Jenn!

The Finger Lakes are such a treasure trove of outdoor adventures. I admire you for your energy and appreciate you writing about it!
So glad we connected on the Finger Lakes. Finally, we were able to do this paddle. It was worth the wait.
Stunningly beautiful, Jenn. This was truly a journey through history.

We have always wanted to paddle the boundary waters. I do not like paddling into the wind on a big open lake.
