More about Jenn Woltjen
When you sign up to receive Running on Substack, you will also be subscribed to Outdoors by Jenn - a publication developed and written by Jenn Woltjen. Jenn is known to be constantly pursuing new adventures and enjoys sharing her journey with others.
A long-time runner, nordic skier and endurance enthusiast, Jenn has completed several marathons including the Boston Marathon, the New York City Marathon and the Chicago Marathon. Her favorite ultras include the Finger Lakes 50’s, the CanLake 50 and the Green Lakes Endurance Runs. Over the years, Jenn has earned age-group awards in all race distances. When she is not running, she spends her time hiking and climbing mountains, paddling in the Adirondacks and cross country skiing.
The bulk of Jenn’s professional career was spent working in finance, higher education and most recently as a running coach (known as Koach Jen to her runners). Jenn is a certified UESCA Ultra Running Coach, NASM Personal Trainer, RRCA Level II Running Coach and PSIA Professional Ski Instructor.
Read more about Jenn’s running journey here on Substack in her post entitled What I owe to running: from backpacker to back of the pack running.
Jenn has written and published numerous articles on other online publications for her running and fitness followers. Inspired by her high school journalism teacher and mentor, she senses an urge to remain connected to the outdoors and to share her journey with others.
As Jenn likes to confess, the journey is usually more intriguing than the ultimate destination. Join her as she shares her stories, her favorite places and the compelling people she meets as she roams locally and afar. Along the way, she may delve into deeper subjects that impact her adventures - the environment, personal relationships, challenges with aging and an ongoing battle with her sense of self.
I have been looking for a piece just like this - thank you so much for compiling and sharing this.
Thanks for mentioning and thanks for broaden my substack running horizon!
