Wow, that tree is fascinating! My first thought is to wonder how old it is? It looks fairly small, but it could be like be like an alpine pine, ancient but stunted by winds and cold. What a monument to persistence! Oh, and your photos of canoeing are epic!!
Good points. I guess that the tree would need to be "flexible" and bend with the forces around it.......all the more reason that it needs to be strong.
Your points about a strong foundation and persistence are so true. At the same time, I wonder if that tree could have asked a few extra questions, would it? Trees aren’t like us, they can’t move around!
- will I be happy, all alone out here on this rock?
I haven't been in a canoe in forever. I love the perspective of being on the water in a low boat. It's so enticing and eye opening.
Especially on quiet water when the only sounds you hear are the water rippling, the birds chirping and the sound of your paddle.
Yes! Honestly I love being on the water even with boat noise. But the silence in a canoe, blissful, indeed!

You may be right - an alpine pine but probably been there for years. I had so many different thoughts about the tree on the rock......

- what if the water rises or drops?
- can I get takeout if I don’t want to cook?
